S&C Electric Company, the lead EPC contractor for the Dorenell Wind Farm on the Glenfiddich Estate in Scotland, has selected Enspec Power to supply four 33-kV capacitor banks incorporating Vizimax SynchroTeq technology for the Dorenell Wind Farm on the Glenfiddich Estate in Scotland. With 59 turbines, Dorenell is one of the largest onshore wind farm projects in Scotland.

The wind farm, which is being developed by EDF Energy Renewables, will incorporate various innovations, including the use of composite fibreglass overhead line “H” poles for distribution. These will offer environmental and cost benefits.

“We are delighted that S&C Electric Company have placed their confidence in Enspec to design and commission the capacitor banks for this exciting project,” said Enspec Director Steve Jones. “By incorporating SynchroTeq technology, we can offer rapid re-switching of less than 10 seconds and in compliance with the grid code.”

When fully operational, Dorenell Wind Farm will generate enough energy to power 138,000 homes.
