If you don't schedule time for maintenance, your equipment will schedule it for you!

Our field engineers were recently called out to investigate why a manufacturing site was experiencing poor power factor despite having PFC units installed.

It quickly became clear that site staff were unaware of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and the requirement for regular inspection of electrical equipment as the capacitor banks had been installed almost 25 years ago without evidence of maintenance. Our engineers couldn't even reach one of the units until the fire hazardous rubbish dumped in the switchroom had been cleared to allow access!

On this occasion, the company was lucky: multiple component failures, operated fuses and melted cables contained within the enclosures meant that the equipment was beyond economical repair and new PFC units required. It would have been a whole lot costlier exercise had fire broken out: no insurance company would ever cover this level of negligence.

Give us a call and we’ll help to keep your electrical equipment in great shape. And remember, if you don't schedule time for maintenance, your equipment will schedule it for you!
