High Voltage Harmonic Filters
Scout Moor Wind Farm
An Enspec, VArCompĀ® High Voltage (33KV) Harmonic Filter (4.5 MVAr) has been
installed and commissioned at Scout Moor Wind Farm in Lancashire. The Wind
Farm was experiencing very high voltage distortion and resonance on the system.
Initial design specification from the power systems consultant were modified by
our engineering team and incorporated in a totally enclosed welded steel outdoor
cubicle. The filter is a non-standard type and is designed to attenuate the 5th and
11th order harmonics.
Initial studies have been carried out and show that the filters are performing to
expectation.
Crystal Rig ll Wind Farm
We have also recently delivered two VArCompĀ® High Voltage (33KV) Harmonic
Filter (3 MVAr) to Crystal Rig ll Wind Farm in the Scottish Borders. Again,
evidence of harmonic distortion at this wind farm has caused the demand for this
equipment both of which are also enclosed units.
