Return from near the Arctic Circle

Our field services engineer, Duncan Lynch, has recently returned from the northern forests of Sweden having commissioned the VArComp® Reactive Compensation equipment that Enspec supplied to Havsnas Wind Farm. Havsnas Wind Farm is the largest onshore wind farm in Sweden with a total output of 95.4 MW using 48 Vestas V-90 turbines. Apart from having to fight off the summer mosquitoes, Duncan had to undergo “Bear Awareness” training as these fantastic wild beasts are quite prolific in the summer months in that part of Sweden. Duncan’s advice to anyone finding themselves in that part of the world, during summer months, is ‘If you see a bear, and it sees you, DON’T RUN!’ Apparently, one has to look it in the eye, and withdraw slowly whilst maintaining eye contact.
