Problem: Data storage facility running close to capacity required extra availability for increasing future load.

Investigation: Enspec Power Ltd were retained to conduct a load power survey. A poor leading power factor on the UPS output meant that extra kVA could be made readily available.

Solution: VArComp^® 600kVAr (total) 415V automatic inductive reactive compensators were installed to improve UPS output power factor to ≈0.98 lagging. (300kVAr inductor bank pictured)

Problem: Site exceeding G5/4 harmonic limits. Electricity supply company demanding compliance.

Investigation: Enspec Power Ltd were retained to conduct site harmonic survey and system modelling.

Solution: Installation of VArComp® 9.4MVAr 33kV 5th harmonic filter to reduce and maintain site harmonics to within G5/4 limits.
